MyShoppingTown to discontinue it's fundraising program
Yes, you read that correctly. This has been a very tough decision for me that I've been thinking about over the last several months, and one which I have not taken lightly. However, when something is not working as hoped for and goals are not being met, there comes a time when you have to cut your losses and keep moving forward.
That's how it goes in the business world, and fundraising is no different. While we have achieved some success over the last 3 years, we've yet to generate enough consistent interest in the site and get enough partners and more importantly consistent shoppers after a new partner signs up to make it at least break even on the time and expense of operating the site.
Therefore, as of March 31, 2010, MyShoppingTown's fundraising program will discontinue. The site may still be active for a while, but we will no longer continue to operate as a fundraiser.
I want to thank our partners for signing up with us, even the ones that weren't active! I realize that fundraising through shopping is not your first priority (maybe it's a concept ahead of it's time) and that you probably do well at your local fundraising events, which is great. I wish you all continued success in your other fundraising efforts.
